Tongue and Lip Ties
Dr. Cherish has trained extensively in tethered oral tissues. She has learned from some of the top experts in the field, including Dr. Soroush Zaghi, Dr. Chelsea Pinto, Dr. Richard Baxter, and Dr. Alison Hazelbaker. In addition, she received her training in oral myofunctional therapy through the IAOM (International Association of Orofacial Myology) so that she can better serve her patients and their parents. Dr. Cherish is focused on your child's whole health, which includes looking at the airway and facial development. Her additional training in Healthy Start and Myomunchee practices allows her to be an orthotropic-focused dentist.
Building a Strong Foundation for Healthy Smiles and Airway Development
Dr. Cherish refers to orthotropics as "pre-ortho ortho," basically helping a child develop into proper alignment with less crowding and better facial (& subsequently airway) development. Tethered oral tissues (tongue and lip ties) are a passion of hers, she often lectures across the country helping other healthcare professionals to learn the importance of identifying these tissues and the issues they can present. Her treatment of tongue and lip ties is multi-disciplinary when possible. She loves to work with bodywork specialists, lactation consultants, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and myofunctional therapists whenever possible. To do the releases, she uses a laser that allows efficient release, beautiful healing, minimal scarring, and wonderful results.
